The crisis caused by the spread of the Corona virus in various parts of the world, including in Indonesia, inevitably caused instability in the economic sector. In this case, the Chinese economy was the most negatively affected by the outbreak. Indonesia as its Chinese counterpart in the economic field was also affected.
The Minister of Industry (Menperin) stated that the Corona virus outbreak has created uncertainty in Indonesia, especially in the economic and industrial sectors. That is because China is one of Indonesia's main partners in both sectors. Nevertheless, Director of PT AKR Corporindo Tbk, Suresh Vembu stated that the company's chemical sales in the East Java Industrial Zone JIIPE actually increased in the first quarter of 2020.
Amid the Corona virus outbreak, chemical sales in the East Java Industrial Zone JIIPE increased by 10 %. East Java Industrial Estate JIIPE itself is the largest industrial estate in East Java as well as the first integrated industrial estate in Indonesia which has been equipped with ports and docks for cruise ships. East Java Industrial Estate JIIPE also has an independent, eco-friendly city housing concept named GEM City equipped with various exclusive facilities, such as golf courses and shopping centers.
